Default Fed meeting: High potential in Forex

Traders predict the Federal Open Market Committee, meeting today in Washington, will lower the overnight lending rate by a full percentage point or more, based on futures prices in Chicago. That would be the biggest reduction since 1984, when Paul Volcker led the central bank, and would bring the benchmark rate down to 2 percent. The Fed already took emergency steps over the weekend to stave off a financial panic, lowering its rate on direct loans to banks and becoming lender of last resort for Wall Street's biggest dealers in government bonds.

Default there is always potential

There is potential for sure. The question is if traders want to stay invested during the release of news or not. Because even if you take the right decision (Long or Short) the high degree of volatility we are observing lately can destroy the equity of a medium size trading account if the trader does not manage the risks carefully...

recommendation would be to take exposure, but in a lower amount than usual. Stops will not be ob big help if there is a gap and your broker will be happy to fill it with slippage.
