rsi reading

hi all, i am relatively new to chart trading. i am sure this question may have been asked before but i am hoping someone could give me some good advice.

i am day trading and using the rsi reading. i am in general looking to take profits of 15-20 pips, and only look to hold for further if it follows a strong break. what do you recommend to be the best chart for the rsi reading? it is a 5 minute chart ? also what period do you suggest ?
