Hey intfxed: Coming from a long-time trader, here's a piece of advice: it might seem a bit strange but don't look for profits; rather, simply focus on the WAY you trade. I would also suggest starting with small volumes, no more than 2-3 trades a day. Try to trade basing on long intervals such as weekly or daily, which will make it easier and will result in calmer trading.
    Hope you find this helpful!
    Good Luck and Happy trading

Absolutely agree with JulCrystal! Don't start stressing and reacting all the time. Slow down, take a step back and get the overview. You can add more and more trades every week.

Could not agree more with JulCrystal- great post!
I want to add though there is more to forex than playing on forums. It is important to understand the strategy before implementation. (I know when I was starting out I threw myself in there without the ability to read any indicators or charts-as dumb as that was i was atleast smart enough to start out with a demo account- whoever created that concept I owe you-- thousands of dollars worth of thanks) I'd recommend learning a bit about forex basics before delving forward: A friend of mine referred me to everestforex.com (selfishly to gain 50 trading dollars with his broker) I found the presentations helpful (only downside is it doesn't provide secrets to perfect trades) and liked receiving $100 to trade (money = good)~!
Anyways- good luck to one and all: wishing success to all of us!

JameD you beat me to it! Saw this thread and got excited to share my learning forex experience and you clearly had a similar experience to mine: I also learned forex basics (such as technical and fundamental analysis) from Everest Forex: found it useful and made trading a bit easier to comprehend. One thing you did not mention JameD is for every friend you refer you receive an additional $50 to trade at your broker. Anyways, sorry for being redundant (I'm new to this forum and was thrilled to post: what can I say...)

Hard to do, but you must have disciplined.... it's hard not to focus on every up/down tick
