Drawbacks:

1) It is based on definition of the trading zone - the zone of upper and lower levels, where the price drifts for a long period of time - weeks, months. Such a zone may theoretically be drawn based on the support and resistance levels, which by definition are numbers based on history and specifically on adjacent history.
