Default Important Question about Currency Trading

I'm interested in currency trading. and I would like to ask you a question.
say if your forex account is in british pound and you want to trade in the currency pair GBP/USD, can you buy GBP and sell USD, instead of selling GBP and buying USD.
Or do you need a forex account in US dollar if you want to do this?

    Thanks.

Yes you can do that. For as long as your Forex broker accepts British pound as your base currency.
