Hi, I don`t think it`s illegal to trade the ZAR - but you have to have at least 100000 rand to open an account and you also make less profit per pip - You can use Investec in South Africa if you want to.
- I`ve heard that there is software houses developing systems where you can now also trade with your own base currency and they will introduce South African rand soon.

I am from South Africa - Is there anybody that`s also trading with the south african rand - The rand stands on almost 11 rand now for 1 USD!!! - It fell last year from february till now from 8 rand to about 11 rand - 3 rand!!!

Is there anybody that is currently trading with ZAR USD???

The reason for less profit on trading against the Rand is the high interest rates the Reserve bank has put up this year to counteract inflation. - four percentage points so far. This resulted in the Rand making gains this week against the USD. The Rand is now at a 12 week best against the dollar. All eyes are on the release of the PPI figures tomorrow Wednesday 23 Oct to see if we can expect the BIG $10 to be broken early next year.

You are treading on thin ice - currently illigal to trade the ZAR - Unless something has changed in the last few months. Why would you want to trade it in any case? Way to volitile for me. Don`t you battle finding your trend patterns/channels? I demo traded the ZAR over December 2001 and made a `bundel` $100 000 US but than was trading with 30 lots at a time and as you know December was a great month to go long on the dollar against the ZAR. Enjoy the ZAR, I prefer the EUR and GBP.
